Erdoğan calls online gambling more dangerous than terrorism
In Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on January 15, at the opening of the state youth TV channel TRT Genç, said that online gambling causes greater harm to the country than terrorism and promised to eradicate it.

The president stated that due to digital platforms and gaming mechanics, almost every smartphone is turning into a casino.
According to him, digital games and apps used for entertainment draw young people into online betting and gambling.
Comparison with the threat of terrorism
Erdoğan noted that addictions such as alcohol, drugs, virtual betting, and gambling harm the country’s national structure.
He stressed that in terms of their impact, these phenomena have reached a level he described as more destructive than terrorism.
Protection of the family institution
The president separately addressed the issue of family values, stating that the family is under pressure from the digital environment and media content.
He pointed out that distorted behavior patterns are promoted through TV series, films, games, and other formats.
The role of TRT and the launch of TRT Genç

Erdoğan positively assessed TRT’s efforts to create content aimed at young audiences and public values.
According to him, the TRT Genç channel will become part of this work and will be focused on supporting young people.
