Belarusbank to Block iGaming Payments

Belarus’ largest state-owned bank announced the introduction of restrictions on payments to foreign iGaming operators starting from February 2, 2026.
Restrictions for Bank Cardholders
The blocking will affect holders of debit, credit, and corporate cards issued by Belarusbank. From the specified date, the bank will begin declining certain payment transactions made in favor of gambling operators.
Which Transactions Are Subject to the Ban
The restrictions apply to transfers of funds by individuals to foreign iGaming operators using bank payment cards. Such transactions will be automatically declined.
Legal Basis for the Restrictions
The measures are introduced under Presidential Decree No. 226 of the Republic of Belarus “On Activities in the Gambling Business” dated June 6, 2025. The document prohibits individuals from topping up gaming balances with foreign gambling operators.
Requirements for the Banking System
According to Decree No. 226, Belarusian banks are required to refuse such transactions initiated by individuals. The ban applies across the entire banking system of Belarus and is mandatory for all institutions.
