The Belarusian Ministry Declares Mellstroy Channels Extremist

In October, authorities in Belarus identified cases of hooliganism, public disorder, and illegal gatherings, related to the streamer Mellstroy.

Involvement of the Blogger and Nature of the Violations

Officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Belarusian citizen Andrey Burim, known online as Mellstroy and currently residing abroad, was involved in organizing unlawful activities. He conducted online contests that encouraged viewers to engage in actions violating the law. Participants recorded these acts and uploaded the videos to social networks in exchange for payment.

Such practices fall under the law “On Countering Extremism”, which increases legal responsibility for both organizers and participants. According to the Ministry, the blogger’s activity had been raising concerns for some time, and citizen reports submitted through the official complaint channel had completed another review.

Court Decision and Legal Measures

At the initiative of the GUBOPiK unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Central District Court of Minsk ruled on November 4, 2025, to classify all Mellstroy channels on digital platforms as extremist materials. This ruling also applies to his brand logos and watermarks used in videos.

Item Status
Blogger’s channels Extremist materials
Logos and watermarks Extremist materials
Contest-related calls to action Unlawful activity

Public Responsibility

The Ministry reminds citizens that distribution of such materials in any form carries legal consequences. Authorities emphasize that participation in activities disrupting public order is unacceptable and warn that technical measures may be used to quickly block social media accounts in cases posing threats to national security.

  • Sharing prohibited content is punishable under the law
  • Participation in provocations is recorded and treated as an offense
  • Strict sanctions will be applied to organizers

Ministry Comment and Official Position

Vladimir Goreglyad, a representative of the GUBOPiK unit, stated that such violations present risks to public order. He noted that the Ministry has both technical and legal tools to respond promptly, including blocking platforms hosting unlawful activity.

The court decision and actions of law enforcement aim to prevent further unlawful gatherings and maintain stability. Authorities will continue strengthening oversight of online platforms where calls that threaten public safety may appear.
