Expansion of the Stevenhills network
The SMS betting initiative comes a few months after the company opened its 20th retail outlet in Curepipe on April 25. This step highlights Stevenhills’ strengthened presence in the Mauritian betting market.
Hybrid growth strategy
SMS betting is part of a development model that combines retail operations with digital channels. This approach allows the operator to retain customers from physical outlets while expanding access to new players in harder-to-reach areas.
- increased coverage of remote regions;
- higher revenue from digital services;
- use of the existing retail infrastructure.
IPO and digital infrastructure
Stevenhills went public on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius in May 2025. Funds raised during the IPO are being directed toward developing digital channels, including infrastructure for SMS betting.
According to company reports, the launch of the new service is part of the expansion of its digital segment. Although the projected revenue is an estimate, it reflects management’s confidence in the potential of the service.
Management commentary
Steve Sew, Managing Director and Co-founder of Stevenhills, stated that the expansion of the network and the company’s listing were “a natural evolution for the company,” highlighting its focus on transparency and regulatory compliance.
Mauritius betting market
According to industry experts, the country’s betting sector is growing rapidly. Operators are expanding their presence by combining retail outlets with digital services. The launch of SMS betting strengthens Stevenhills’ position as a company shaping standards in the local market.
- fast-growing demand for remote services;
- active regional expansion by operators;
- strengthening of the hybrid model (offline + digital channels).
Regulatory process
Stevenhills’ application for approval remains under review by the GRA. The outcome will be announced once the regulator completes its procedures.
