MelBet Loses License and Exits Uganda Market

The Uganda National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) announced on January 5 that the operator MelBet (Fox Bet Limited) has ceased operations in the country.

License Revocation and Cessation of Operations

As of January 1, 2026, the company no longer holds a valid iGaming license in Uganda. Players are advised to withdraw any remaining funds from their accounts and close them immediately.

Risks of Engaging with Unlicensed Operators

Interacting with unlicensed operators can result in loss of funds and no possibility of recourse. NLGRB emphasized the importance of carefully selecting betting platforms.

At the time of publication, MelBet has not issued an official comment. Previously, the regulator mistakenly dated the announcement as 2025 instead of 2026.
