Growth of Betting and Lotteries in Russia 2025

In Russia, the median transaction size for sports betting and lotteries in 2025 reached ₽1,824 (~$22), increasing by 13% year-over-year.

The number of transactions grew by 19% compared to the previous year, reflecting increased activity in the betting and lottery segment.

Demand for lottery tickets increased by 16% year-over-year.

The median ticket size reached 233 rubles, which is 11% higher than in 2024.

Online Segment and Demand Structure

More than 80% of lottery ticket sales are generated through online channels.

Experts note the growing share of digital purchases and a gradual shift of users to online platforms.

Changes in Consumer Behavior

A slowdown in spending growth within the betting and lottery segment has been recorded.

While in 2022–2024 the average annual growth of transaction size was 30–40%, in 2025 it increased by about one-tenth.

The frequency of purchases has also declined: previously growing by 40–60% per year, it has now slowed down.

Seasonality and Interest in Betting

Lottery ticket sales peak during holiday periods, when they are often purchased as gifts.
