Brazil separates betting income in tax filings

In Brazil, the tax authority Receita Federal, in the rules for declaring personal income tax for 2025, introduced income from fixed-odds betting (apostas fixas) as a separate category.

Taxpayers are required to report income from fixed-odds betting in a separate section of their tax return.

It is also necessary to declare balances held in iGaming operator accounts as of December 31, 2025.

Submission period
The filing period will begin on March 23 and end on May 29.

Around 44 million tax returns are expected to be submitted.

Tax refunds will be paid in four installments: May 29, June 30, July 31, and August 31.

Tax cashback
Around 4 million taxpayers with lower income will receive tax refunds, with amounts reaching up to 1,000 reais per person.

The refunds apply to individuals who did not file a return but are entitled to receive payments.

Tax returns must include income earned abroad, as well as profits and dividends.
Mandatory categories
