Brazilian Brands 6z and Afun Under Investigation

On December 16, the Federal Police of Brazil (PF) conducted the “Dark Bet” operation against an organization that recruited Brazilians through social media to work abroad, according to CBN.
Activities of 6z and Afun
The investigation involves the brands “6z” and “Afun”, which operate in Brazil through their platforms.
Recruitment and Exploitation of Victims
Brazilians were recruited via social media with promises of high salaries and opportunities to work in BET platforms. Once sent abroad, victims were held under armed guard, had their documents confiscated, forced to work in exploitative conditions, and used for criminal activities, including cybercrimes.
Arrests and Court Measures
In Nigeria, 109 people were arrested, including five Brazilians suspected of involvement in cybercrimes.
Legal Actions in Brazil
The Federal Court of Brazil ordered the blocking of the websites of both brands and froze assets totaling over $74 million (approximately R$400 million). Eleven searches were conducted across five states — Ceará, Maranhão, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo. Four individuals are under temporary arrest.
Ongoing Investigation
The PF continues to investigate under charges of human trafficking, forced labor, and participation in organized crime. The goal of the operation is to stop criminal activities, hold those responsible accountable, and identify additional potential victims of the scheme.
