Sweden Updates iGaming Supervision Fees

In Liberia, the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has officially licensed prediction markets under the Liberian International Gaming License.

In Sweden, the gambling regulator Spelinspektionen on February 6 published an updated supervision fee regulation, SIFS 2026:1, which will take effect on March 1, 2026.

New Supervision Fee Structure

Fees Charged Per License

According to the document, supervision fees will be charged per individual license, rather than per corporate group as was previously the case.

The changes apply to all iGaming license holders operating on the Swedish market.

Fees for the iGaming Segment

B2C Licenses

The following fees have been set for online gambling operators:

B2B Permits

A separate fee applies to technology providers:

≈€1.55k — B2B permit for gaming software providers

Gambling Regulation Reforms in Sweden

Financial Restrictions for Players

The update to supervision fees is part of a broader package of gambling regulation reforms in Sweden for 2026.

From April 1, a full ban will take effect on funding gambling accounts using credit cards, consumer loans, overdrafts, and BNPL services.

Expanded Powers of the Regulator

As of January 1, 2026, Spelinspektionen received expanded powers from parliament to impose sanctions and revoke licenses.

The regulator is also preparing amendments that would allow action to be taken against unlicensed operators accepting Swedish players, even if their websites are not formally targeted at the Swedish market.
