Parliamentary Commission CPI das Bets Expands Investigation into Betting and Payment Systems in Brazil

The Parliamentary Commission for Investigating Sports Betting (CPI das Bets) continues its active efforts to uncover violations in the field of online betting and digital payment systems.

As part of the new phase of the investigation, 30 additional requests have been approved concerning suspicious financial transactions and violations of advertising practices.

Expansion of the Investigation: Who is in the Spotlight?

One of the main subjects of the investigation is the sports betting operator Responsa Gaming, which manages the brand ZeroUm Bet.

Despite holding a license issued by the Lottery of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the company is not registered with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance. This raises doubts about the legality of its activities.

As a result, the CPI has summoned 6 company representatives for questioning. Special attention is also being given to the company’s connection with the well-known internet celebrity Deolane Bezerra, who actively promoted ZeroUm Bet.

Possible Violations in Financial Operations

Additionally, the parliamentary commission has requested financial information from 23 banks and fintech companies.

The goal is to identify possible money laundering and other financial violations.

An important aspect of the investigation was the lifting of banking secrecy for a number of legal entities, which is expected to help reveal hidden financial flows and corporate connections.

Deolane Bezerra’s Role in the Scandal

Celebrity Deolane Bezerra, who actively promoted ZeroUm Bet, has also come under the scrutiny of Senators.

The situation surrounding her involvement in promoting the brand sparked outrage, especially after the Brazilian Supreme Court released Bezerra from mandatory questioning.

Senators expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s decision, stating that it was made based on incomplete evidence, and Bezerra herself publicly announced her release before the Senate was officially notified.

Consequences for the Legislative and Financial Sectors

The commission’s investigation reflects growing concern among lawmakers about the lack of transparency in the sports betting and digital payment systems industry.

Senators are calling for stricter regulation and increased accountability from market participants, which should help improve control over financial flows and reduce the risks of money laundering.
