Influencer Deepfakes in Dutch Casino Advertising

In the Netherlands, influencer deepfakes are increasingly being used in advertising for illegal online casinos.
KVA Association Warning
The Dutch Association of Responsible Affiliates (KVA) warns of a rise in advertising for illegal online casinos that uses deepfakes featuring influencers without their consent.
According to the organization, such advertising materials are distributed through digital channels and are aimed at directing audiences to prohibited gambling platforms.
Example of Identified Deepfake Advertising
As an example, KVA pointed to a discovered targeted advertisement presented in a vertical video format.
The video uses the image of Dutch YouTube blogger Kelvin Burma (Kalvijn), whose audience totals 1.37 million subscribers.
Content and Branding Used
In the video, the blogger is portrayed as promoting the gambling application Ice Cold Fish.
The app uses the branding of the live game Ice Fishing by provider Evolution and redirects users to an unnamed operator.
According to KVA, the advertisement was launched without the blogger’s knowledge or consent.
KVA’s Position and Call to Influencers
The association stresses that the use of deepfakes in online casino promotion misleads users and violates responsible marketing standards.
KVA also urges influencers to independently monitor the use of their image in advertising materials and report any identified violations to the regulator.
