iGaming Operator TonyBet Advertising Banned in Ireland

In Ireland, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for the second time in two months upheld complaints against YouTube advertising by the iGaming operator TonyBet.

Complaints About TonyBet Advertising on YouTube

The regulator reviewed two separate advertising videos that were published on the YouTube platform and prompted complaints from viewers.

In both cases, the ads were found to violate existing rules governing the promotion of gambling products.

First Advertising Video

In the first video, a man sitting on a toilet and holding a smartphone encouraged viewers to “make money while sitting on the toilet.”

The regulator stated that this presentation created the impression that gambling is an easy and accessible source of income.

Second Advertising Video

In the second video, a woman with a child complained about not having enough money to pay rent.

The video then showed that she had allegedly earned $8,500 in one month through betting.

Regulatory Decision

The ASA banned the repeated placement of both advertising materials.

The regulator concluded that the videos presented gambling as a way to earn money, which breaches advertising standards.

TonyBet’s Position

Regarding the first video, TonyBet representatives stated that the advertisement had been published by an affiliate without approval.

Following contact from the regulator, the video was promptly removed.

The operator did not comment on the situation surrounding the second advertising video.
