Mexico Raises IEPS Tax for iGaming Operators

The Mexican Senate approved an increase in the IEPS tax for iGaming operators from 30% to 50%, effective January 1, 2026.

Support for the Tax Reform

The country has agreed to raise the tax rate for iGaming operators from 30% to 50%. The Senate Committee approved the 2026 budget package, which includes the increase in the special IEPS tax. The Chamber of Deputies has already endorsed the measure, and the final Senate vote is scheduled before October 31.

Once fully approved, the new tax rates will take effect on January 1, 2026.

Allocation of Additional Revenue

The government plans to allocate the increased tax revenue to healthcare and education. In addition, an 8% tax will be introduced on video games containing violent content.
