ACMA Blocks Unlicensed Online Gambling Sites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has directed internet providers to block four online casinos (Slot Lounge, FastSpin99, Betzillo, and Spinit) as well as the affiliate site PokiesPros.
Which Sites Were Blocked
Following an investigation, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) determined that these services were operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. As a result, internet service providers have been instructed to block access to them.
Website | Type |
---|---|
Slot Lounge | Online Casino |
FastSpin99 | Online Casino |
Betzillo | Online Casino |
Spinit | Online Casino |
PokiesPros | Affiliate Site |
Why These Sites Were Blocked
Blocking is part of an effort to protect Australian users from illegal online gambling services. These platforms are unlicensed and fail to provide essential safeguards such as secure handling of funds and protection of personal data.
- No license — these sites are not registered or regulated.
- Risk of losing money — players may not receive their winnings.
- No user protection — no guarantees of privacy or security.
Blocking Statistics
Since November 2019, ACMA has blocked 1,322 illegal websites. Additionally, around 220 services have exited the Australian market since stricter rules were introduced in 2017.
How to Check if a Site Is Legal
Users can verify whether a site is licensed by checking the official register on the ACMA website. The site also provides information on how to file a complaint about an illegal operator and how to protect yourself online.
Tip: Before you start playing, make sure the site is listed as a licensed operator to avoid the risk of losing your funds.
