Indonesia blocks 33,000 accounts over gambling

In Indonesia, financial regulator OJK announced at a press conference summarizing March 2026 results that 33,252 bank accounts suspected of being linked to online gambling had been blocked, reported by Antara News.
Increase in blocked accounts
Compared to previous figures, the number of blocked accounts increased by 696, up from 32,556 accounts.
The regulator continues to tighten control over financial flows related to illegal gambling.
Requirements for the banking sector
OJK has instructed banks to apply Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) procedures to identify accounts that may be used for online betting activities.
These measures are aimed at strengthening transaction monitoring and detecting suspicious activity at an earlier stage.
