Melbet Introduces Nectar Melbet Project in Côte d’Ivoire

In Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan), operator Melbet introduced the Nectar Melbet project for beekeeping development in partnership with the local apiary Colonie on February 26. The event was attended by government officials, entrepreneurs, agricultural sector participants, influencers, and media representatives.

Goals and Concept of the Nectar Melbet Project

Supporting Agricultural Communities

The Nectar Melbet project aims to develop beekeeping and support local agricultural communities. The concept is simple: without bees, there is no life — bees pollinate plants, plants produce crops, crops generate income for farmers, contributing to regional economic growth.

Focus on Women

At the heart of the program are women, who often reinvest income into their families: children’s education, health, and the future of the community, amplifying the project’s impact at the family level.

Project Implementation and Results

Infrastructure and Equipment

The initiative includes the installation of 50 modern hives on a 500 m² area. The local team has been trained in beekeeping and hive management, and staff are provided with professional protective gear.

Production Performance

Apiary production capacity has increased by 125%, with an expected output of around 2,000 kg of honey per year.

Media Coverage

The project received significant media attention: over 500,000 web media users and 5.8 million social media users, as well as coverage in the country’s leading media outlets, including Abidjan.net.

Impact on the Local Community

Economic Development

The system “bees → crops → income → regional growth” creates a sustainable income cycle for farmers and supports the development of the local economy.

Social Impact

The project strengthens social development through the involvement of women and support for families, positively affecting education and healthcare in the communities.
