Kalshi Suspends MrBeast Editor Over Insider Betting

The prediction market platform Kalshi has suspended the account of Artem Kaptur, the editor for top YouTube creator MrBeast.

According to the platform, Kaptur placed bets on upcoming MrBeast video content, including outcomes of the Beast Games series, using insider information.

Bets on Upcoming MrBeast Videos

This involved markets where users can predict what will happen in future videos, including what the creator will say or who will win his reality-style competitions.

Kalshi reports that Kaptur placed around $4,000 in bets before his activity was flagged by internal monitoring systems and other platform users.

Suspicious Trading Activity

Kalshi noted that the editor’s account stood out due to near-perfect betting success on low-odds markets.

Additionally, several users reported suspicious activity on the account.

Fines and Reporting to Regulators

Kalshi fined Artem Kaptur more than $20,000 and reported his bets to federal regulators.

The company emphasized that this is the first public instance in which it revealed the results of an internal investigation into market manipulation.

Kalshi’s Response and Additional Actions

At the same time, Kalshi also suspended the account of 24-year-old politician Kyle Langford, who allegedly placed $200 bets on his own gubernatorial campaign in California.

Langford was fined $2,246 and banned from trading for five years.

Kalshi’s Position

Kalshi states that it closely monitors trading rules and acts on instances of insider information usage.
