Curaçao Regulator Postpones Indefinite License Issuance

In Curaçao, the regulator (CGA) on December 23 postponed the decision on granting indefinite licenses to a group of operators whose provisional licenses are nearing expiration due to the large volume of information under review. The operators’ provisional licenses remain valid.
CGA Procedure for Granting Provisional Licenses
In accordance with Article 5.1, paragraph 8 of the Landsverordening op de Kansspelen (LOK), the CGA may grant an applicant a provisional license for a period of six months.
This may be followed by an additional six-month provisional license to allow the licensee to meet the licensing conditions.
Decision on an Indefinite License
After the end of the second provisional license period, the LOK requires the CGA to make a decision on granting an indefinite license.
In doing so, the regulator takes into account the requirements set out in Article 2.2, paragraph 2 of the LOK.
Reasons for the Review Delay
The CGA has received a substantial volume of information from operators whose second provisional license period is approaching its expiry date.
Due to the time required to review this information, a final decision on indefinite licenses for this group of operators has not yet been made.
Current Status of Operators
The assessment process is ongoing, and no final decision has been issued at this stage.
Until a final decision is made and formally communicated to the operators, the current licensing status remains unchanged.
Each operator will receive a separate notification from the CGA explaining the current situation.
