ACMA Blocks Illegal Online Gambling Websites in Australia

In Australia, the regulator ACMA blocked 12 illegal iGaming operators, including Abu King, BetAlice, Dragon Slots, Nova Jackpot, Power Up Casino, QuickWin, Roby Casino, Rocketspin, Rooster Bet, Vegasino, Vegas Now, and Winbay.

ACMA Actions Against Illegal Operators

Investigations revealed that these services were operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Following the investigation, the regulator requested internet service providers to block the listed websites. These measures are part of ACMA’s ongoing efforts to protect Australian players from illegal online gambling.

ACMA states that website blocking is one of several enforcement tools to limit access to illegal services. Since November 2019, 1,455 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked at the regulator’s request. Additionally, about 220 services have withdrawn from the Australian market since stronger enforcement began in 2017.

Risks for Users of Illegal Services

ACMA warns that even if a site appears legitimate, it may not provide essential consumer protections. Users of these illegal platforms risk losing money, as such services offer no guarantees of payment or support.

How to Verify Service Legality

Users can check whether a platform is licensed to operate in Australia via the official register of licensed services. The regulator also provides guidance on protecting oneself from illegal operators and instructions on how to report websites that violate the rules.
